Preparing bridges for inspection
Debris, bird fouling and failed coatings hide the defects inspectors need to see. We clean girders, bearings and box sections, and remove paint and corrosion where NDT or close visual inspection needs bare steel.
Older bridges are often protected by paints containing lead or hexavalent chromium, so we test coatings before they are disturbed and remove the hazardous waste the work produces.
Access for complex structures
Rope access reaches soffits, girders and bearings with a small footprint, often avoiding the cost and traffic management of scaffolding and mobile platforms. Box girders and enclosed spaces are entered under confined space procedures with rescue cover.
Inspection, recommendations and remedial works
Corrosion surveys, paint inspection and NDT establish the condition of the structure. Our report sets out clear, practical recommendations so you can prioritise the work that matters and avoid unnecessary spend.
We then carry out the remedial works: coating removal by induction, laser or blasting, new corrosion protection systems, composite wrap repairs and bird proofing.
- Industrial cleaning and coating removal for inspection
- Lead and chromium paint testing and hazardous waste removal
- Rope access and confined space entry
- Corrosion surveys, paint inspection and NDT
- Corrosion protection, composite repairs and bird proofing
- Planned maintenance programmes after the works
Keeping on top of it
Once the remedial works are complete, a tailored maintenance programme, such as an annual visual inspection, picks up minor issues before they become major repairs.
