Fuel Storage Tank Asset Management

Taking a tank out of service is expensive, so the work needs to be planned as one job: cleaning, confined space entry, inspection, assessment and any lining or repair work that follows. We manage all of it, and keep the tank compliant afterwards.

Cleaning and entry

We clean tanks ahead of inspection and provide confined space entry with rescue cover, so the inspection can start as soon as the tank is safe to enter.

Inspection to EEMUA 159 and API 653

Floors, shells, roofs and fittings are inspected in line with EEMUA 159 or API 653, with NDT where section loss needs to be measured and valve testing where required.

Fitness for Service and recommendations

A Fitness for Service assessment evaluates the tank's structural integrity, identifies potential risks and establishes whether it remains suitable for continued operation. The report gives clear, practical recommendations, so you can prioritise remedial works, manage risk and avoid unnecessary expenditure.

Linings, repairs and ongoing maintenance

Where linings or coatings need replacing, we remove them by grit blasting, induction or laser, apply the new system with paint inspection, and carry out composite repairs where steel has lost section. A tailored maintenance programme then keeps the tank in good order between inspections.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can cleaning, inspection and relining be done in one outage?

That is the aim of a turnkey approach: one team plans cleaning, entry, inspection and follow-on work so the tank is out of service for as short a time as possible.

What is a Fitness for Service assessment?

An engineering assessment of whether an asset with damage or deterioration remains safe to keep operating, and under what conditions. It helps decide what needs repairing now and what can be monitored.
