The Challenge
- Complete out-of-service inspection to EEMUA 159 on a 6,597,000 L tank that is critical to site operations, providing water for emergency firefighting in the event of a fire.
- A full refurbishment is due in 2027, so the works had to include repairs that would ensure integrity while getting the asset back into service as soon as possible.
- Waste removal and surface preparation were required before the inspection.
Our Solution
- The goal during the short outage window was to complete the asset's first EEMUA 159 inspection and recommend repairs to get the tank through a 12-month service ahead of a full reline in 2027.
- With full access to the tank's shell and base, specialist inspection equipment detected multiple areas of failure through the lining.
- The necessary patch plate and coating repairs were carried out to return the asset to service.
- A risk-based inspection was completed with a reduced sign-off window, keeping the asset compliant, the site operational and the next outage properly planned.
